FAQS

  • At Asha, we recognize that a person’s identity is multidimensional and multi-contextual in nature. There are several factors that influence identity development, such as race, ethnicity, languages spoken, age, generation, socioeconomic status, marital status, geographical location, political ideas, religion, sexual orientation, gender, national identity, developmental disabilities, and disabilities acquired over time.

Culturally responsive therapy is an ongoing process of understanding a person’s experience through a social justice lens and that honors a person’s social identity while acknowledging social systems that limit, shape and reinforce these experiences. This process empowers the person to identity their own needs and learn to create resources to achieve specific goals.

  • No! While we specialize in working with marginalized communities, using a culturally-responsive model means that we can work with folks of all identities and presenting issues.

  • Therapy is helpful for everyone. And there’s so much more to therapy than stereotypes would have you believe. The right therapist will create a treatment plan based on your struggles, goals, and preferences. No matter what you’re going through, whether you’re struggling with debilitating depression, you are a high-achiever who can’t find balance, or you just find yourself lost in the uncertainty of the times, therapy can give you the tools to better understand yourself, identify barriers to progress, and help you forge a path forward.

  • We address a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, identity exploration, and life transitions. We also provide support for individuals seeking personal growth and self-improvement.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on each individual and their specific needs. Some clients may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may need longer-term support. We work collaboratively with you to create individualized treatment plans that meet your unique needs and goals.

  • There are lots of options! You can schedule an appointment by calling our office, emailing us, scheduling directly on our calendars at this link, or filling out a contact form on our website. We typically respond within 2 business days to schedule a free consultation and discuss next steps.
